This is an understatement.
At some point, someone tried to eat one straight off a tree and thought, "That's the worst thing I ever put in my mouth".
Which was fair enough - but they then thought, "I know, I'm going to soak some in briny bacterial soup for six months, and have another go".
At the present time, there's a chicken in the oven, slathered in olive oil. It will extract flavour from the chicken, which I can use to make gravy. This is its only acceptable use.
