I dont believe the industries interest in AI is because it will give mankind a leap.
AI will provide useful because it will lay off millions, create a very cheap workforce while sucking every opportunity mankind has to offer. It will be a source for the lazy, unethical and uncreative and feed off them in return. It will become a parasite that will only generate mediocrities. It will not serve people, it will serve the capital.

Dont feed AI. Dont use their tools.
Pretend its not there, leave it powerless. We are never going to have machines as smart as us. Not because its not possible (I dont even know if it is), but because it will always lack moral and feeling. It is only being created to empower big tech over people for profit and control. I believe nothing good will come from it.
