argumentum ad naturam — a rhetorical technique for presenting / proposing that "the more natural something is the better".
yet, many phenomena present in nature are considered undesirable even by supporters of this argument, such as diseases, parasitism, famine, natural selection, natural disasters. at the same time, many phenomena absent from nature bring benefits, such as medicine, health care, support for the elderly and disabled, agriculture, plant selection.
nature & ecology is important for suffering less — but just as medicine, agriculture & mutual aid. wild animals getting eaten alive don't seem to suffer less than domesticated.
