Alcohol was my self-medication of choice for a lot of years. Now I avoid things that bug me (thus my list of 30-some filters on mastodon) and am retired. And when my brain is still wound up and it’s time to sleep, I’ll take a CBD “relax bear” or two.
But there’s a lot to be anxious about “out there” if you want to. I’m happier when I’m not anxious, so I try and avoid the things that trigger me.
