Seeing as everyone in conversations about #Fediverse software seems to criticize #Mastodon and praise the better featured, if slightly more confusing interface of #Misskey, I'm going to make a comparison that praises Mastodon...
Mastodon handles posts from other servers better.
Misskey's method of primarily referring to every post with its own identifier is fundamentally flawed, and maybe difficult to fix without breaking a lot of systems that are linked into it. This system not only makes it difficult to figure out what something is by the URL, or manually type a URL for that matter, it also makes it more difficult to fetch posts which the instance doesn't already see.
Mastodon doesn't have that problem at all: not only can you see who the post is by and what server it's from simply by looking at the URL, you can literally just change the domain in the URL and you will get the same post on a different instance. Mastodon servers have better compatibility for the most important thing, posts.
