Except what if I'm connecting to a big-screen TV a long way away? I need all my UI elements to be quite a bit bigger in physical measurement. Not a totally made up example, I do this quite a bit when traveling, plug the laptop into the hotel TV and use the laptop screen + TV as two screens which are similar in subtended angle even though they're very different sizes.
