Today I angered the garden paper #wasps and got stung like seven times! In retrospect it was really thoughtless and blundering-human of me. They nest under the bottom row of house siding, on the steps between the tomato and sweet pepper. I decided in mid afternoon to go harvest some nice ripe peppers, just walked straight up and started messing with their plant. Suddenly there were a cloud of wasps around me and a bunch nailing each arm!
I ran away, of course. I dropped the peppers in a panic, and when I noticed, I threw the garden shears at the wasps and called them motherfuckers. From twenty feet away, right before I ran inside and closed the door - very brave! 😂
I’m not allergic to wasps, but I’m prone to overreact with loads of inflammation. So I took an antihistamine (not Benadryl! The fucking hat man is never getting me again!) and put on some topicals.
I’m fine now. A few of the stings are sore, but most of them were just warning shots. And I’m not even mad at the wasps. I’ll just move slowly and harvest that plant when it’s cool.
