Both of my times with seven cats there were two boys and five girls, with the boys being brothers along with at least some number of their sisters, which kept the chaos down to minor sibling squabbles. These days if there's any yelling it's likely Simon chasing Lydia or Vincent irritating Mina. My mistake back in the day was introducing two new unrelated boys to my stable seven-cats dynamic. Especially because it turned out one of the boys was a feral cat who was a good actor and knew how to put on a show at the shelter to garner sympathy.
