It never ceases to dishearten when I get a number of downvotes without page views at the very beginners. (Becoming the target of loyal haters was my second choice of a fear.) My best efforts are often the least favorited, but I also have a few hundred hardcore fans of my SF-style fantasy. Like all my free-to-read work, I regard it as practice working in a microcosm (simulation?) of the publication industry, especially as there are venues to "advertise" and provide non-story "content" to keep oneself relevant. I've even tried audio version. I'm one of those crazies that commission cover art. It is all practice for what's imminent for me.
