After about 1980 the quality of Recievers declined after the inflation of the late 70s.
A similar thing happened in the mid 90s with VCRs as the Japanese yen was superstrong against the US dollar. The best quality VCRs ever made were from the early 90s....they were cheapened down after about 1994-95.
