This UK #StarTrek ad is really interesting. It says it aired in '91, but I bet it was filmed just after ST5 in late '89 or '90 given Shatner is wearing his "bomber jacket" (that you don't hear talked about enough).
It's a silly ad. The top of the set on the planet is clearly visible. Scotty is throwing paper airplanes and cracking "shower" jokes, and beaming down umbrellas. He's doing it from the TNG Engineering set, no less, and breaks the fourth wall commenting on Kirk being power mad. Then a strange British man enters, stage right, says good afternoon and begins an ad spiel.
It's a bunch of cringe, I suppose, but really step back and look at it -- they put a lot of effort into it.
The costumes look great. The planet set looks terrific. The planet behind the Enterprise in the opening actually depicts animated shower impacts on the planet. They could have just let it be static, but like everything else in the advert, there's clearly effort put into it. :)
