Tried my hand at making some Marranitos today. You might think these are just gingerbread cookies shaped like a pig but their texture is quite a bit different from traditional gingerbread cookies.

These are more like a cross between a cookie and cake texture wise. These tasty little piggies are popular in Mexico and in Mexican American communities.

This recipe was good but am also going to try a more traditional recipe that uses piloncillo (Mexican cane sugar).
