The Islamic Republic's authorities have sentenced five women prisoners to an additional total of 27 months in prison for protesting the execution a protester.
The Branch 2 Criminal Court of Quds Judicial Complex handed down the sentences in Tehran on Saturday.
The women were convicted of "assaulting an officer and defiance." Death row inmates Pakhshan Azizi and Varisheh Moradi, who face rebellion charges, received six-month sentences each.
Narges Mohammadi and Mahboubeh Rezaei were given equal terms. At the same time, Parivash Moslemi was sentenced to three months and one day, bringing the total to 27 months and one day of additional imprisonment.
The charges stem from an August 6 protest within the women's ward of Evin Prison over the execution of Reza Rasaei, who had been arrested during the Woman, Life, Freedom demonstrations. The protest led to confrontations with prison guards.
