I still own AND use the first SM57 I ever purchased back in the early seventies. Yeah, I'm that old. It says on the box: Industry Standard. Believe it. Many times I'll start with the SM57, trade it out for something more expensive with "better specs" to try to get a better sound BUT go back to the SM57.
A Shure SM57 and my old Radio Shack/Realistic PZM microphone... Magic!
