Got my hearing aids today. I am not generally a vain person but I am struggling with knee-jerk ableism feelings about needing them at what I perceive to be a “young age”.
My father got a hearing aid in his early 60’s (doesn’t wear it a lot at the nursing home probably because he can’t remember he actually needs it) and my paternal grandmother wore one too. They would both take them out when they grew tired of listening to people.
