Hoss “Cyber Jester” Delgado (npub1scj…el3p) Yeah the ideology of capitalism as “the pursuit of wealth is good in and of itself” jumped the rate of rot in the United States. It dissolved the social fabric and vision of society like acid. There used to be an understanding that all of this was for a *purpose* and we were all building *to* something great. Now a Republican would literally call that socialism and a liberal would call that Fascism.
People like Ford and Carnegie get criticized for being rich and abusing their workers, but they had visions. If they had been allowed to carry them out to their logical ends it could have been interesting. Instead, the corporate structure tried to harness them into sucking as much blood out of the population as possible. Eventually it was boiled down into inhuman entities constructed for profit with the veneer of a mission or goal so people didn’t hate them so much and feel they’d lost something.
