And yet, Catholicism has, to me, always seemed to be a relatively compassionate religion. At least, it isn't based on the idea that everyone is sinful and evil beyond salvation like the orthodox Calvinism I grew up in. I mean, there even is space for things like works and the like!
That said, it's still horrible for women like basically any religion is, but it's not the worst one by far.
