Mmm. In order to pass the session ID, your browser either a) has it in a cookie, or b) puts it in the URL.
Podnews’s login cookie is easy - it’s your user ID, and a randomly generated login token. If I see a user ID, I check your token, and you’re logged in. Everything else is in the server. Not sure of the benefits of sessions.
