I teach some classes part time at night. The math skills of my students is abysmal.
Mostly people do not understand how to apply the math.
Give them a problem and they can't figure out how to wrap their head around it. Once it is organized, a lot of the math is the basic +-*/ The simply cannot arrange their thoughts in a manner to get to that point.
I think it may be helpful for some people to learn some programming as you need to organize the concepts.
