I am reading "Pride and Prejudice" with my kid. I never read it before. It is an absolutely fascinating book, and not merely as a time capsule of aristocratic Brits in 19th-century England. I find its insights into male-female relationships to be extraordinary, especially its view of femininity and the pressures that women face in their personal lives. The way that girls are pushed into artistic pursuits merely as a way to attract men was another eye-opener. I should have read this as a teen.
