Ok.... Zinn is masterful here. He makes an excellent case for his view about the rule of law. He's much more scholarly than I could ever hope to be. I do think, though, that societal evolution pushes us to both advance and retard. We're in a history where authoritarianism is still in fashion. To advance, I would rather fight the rule of law than the rule of kings. To retard, I would expect that any societal management is flawed, leaving me in a no win scenario
