If you plan on doing soldering, you may experience some difficulties but I wouldn’t let that deter you; there are some things you can do to mitigate any issues.

I would recommend getting a solder sucker and soldering wick. They will enable you to effectively undo soldering mistakes. It may also be useful to get thinner solder so you have more control over how much you put down. A multimeter is useful for checking current flow through soldered joints so it’s a useful debugging tool. I would also start with a cheap kit and if you can afford it get a second backup kit. I have personally screwed up a keyboard kit before and had to buy another. An alternative to buying a backup keyboard kit is to buy a cheap practice kit to try before working on the keyboard.

Good luck on your keyboard building adventure and have fun!
