"content": "I doubt you can directly compare the modeshare because the methods for calculating it between countries will be different.\n\nBut I suspect the difference is related to the demographics of people who cycle.\n\nA large segment of cycling deaths in the Netherlands are from elderly people. In other countries, the only people who cycle are young and fit and are much more likely to survive a crash.\n\nElderly people in most other countries will be too scared to cycle in the first place.",
