BREAKING: Solana is down due to a bug calculating Pi in a smart contract.
The smart contract on address 0x43677e32f28114c643bd99bfa782dc7c2e0887d0 was found to be the cause of the current outage of Solana.
A contract was set to forward an amount relative to the number of digits of pi calculated using the Solana network on March 14, known colloquially as Pi Day.
Participants in the smart contract made deposits that were set to be timelocked until 3:14:15.965 AM UTC. But with an indefinite amount of digits the contract could not complete and caused a deadlock of resources for all Solana operators.
Efforts are underway to record the deposits of the contract, remove the offending contract and refund depositors. The full faith and credit of the Solana Foundation is working round the clock to rectify this situation and restore operations as quickly as possible.
Ok. The above probably didn't happen, but how much of this did you believe or want to believe because it seems like something Solana would go offline for.
