I don't think any relay does currently require you to pay sats for anything. But for example Alby, the lightning wallet browser extension, lets you set a budget per website and I can imagine in the future you'd set e.g., 1000 sats budget for nostr, and keep posting text/gifs/pictures and it would automatically pay (without you even realizing). That's fine for UX and prevents spam / bots.
