เงินเฟ้อกัดกินค่าเงินในกระเป๋าคุณทุกวัน รัฐบาลก็ออกกฎควบคุมเงินทุน สั่งห้ามโน่นนี่ บังคับให้ใช้เงินในแบบที่พวกเขาต้องการ แถมยังเก็บภาษีอย่างหนักหน่วงเหมือนกับมองว่าประชาชนเป็น “วัวนม” ที่จะรีดนมได้เรื่อยๆ
เงินที่หามาอย่างยากลำบากกลับมีค่าลดลงทุกวัน ต้องทำงานหนักขึ้นเพื่อให้ได้เงินมาเท่าเดิม แถมรัฐบาลยังคอยสอดส่อง ควบคุมการใช้จ่ายของเรา ตั้งกำแพงภาษีซ้ำเติมความเหลื่อมล้ำ
นี่คือโลกที่เราคุ้นเคย… โลกที่อำนาจรวมศูนย์อยู่ที่รัฐบาลและสถาบันการเงิน พวกเขาเป็นผู้กำหนดกฎเกณฑ์ควบคุมเงินตรา และกำหนดชะตาชีวิตของพวกเรา
ถ้าคุณเป็นคนหนึ่งที่ชักเบื่อหน่ายกับระบบแบบนี้… คุณก็มาถูกทางแล้ว!
จากเรือใหญ่ที่กำลังจะจม สู่โลกใหม่แห่งอิสรภาพ
ย้อนกลับไปในปี 1997 สองนักเขียนหัวก้าวหน้าอย่าง เจมส์ เดล เดวิดสัน (James Dale Davidson) และ ลอร์ด วิลเลียม รีส-ม็อกก์ (Lord William Rees-Mogg) ได้เขียนหนังสือชื่อว่า “The Sovereign Individual” (ผมขอให้ชื่้อภาษาไทยแบบไวไวว่า ‘ปัจเจกชนผู้ยิ่งใหญ่’) พวกเขามองเห็นอนาคตและกล้าที่จะบอกพวกเราว่าโลกกำลังจะเปลี่ยนไปสู่ยุคข้อมูลข่าวสาร ยุคที่เทคโนโลยีจะเข้ามา Disrupt ทุกสิ่ง.. แม้กระทั่ง “รัฐชาติ”!
มันคือโลกที่อำนาจจะกระจายออกจากศูนย์กลาง รัฐบาลจะอ่อนแอลงและใครๆ ก็สามารถเป็น “อิสระ” ทั้งทางการเงินและการใช้ชีวิตได้ พวกเขาเรียกคนกลุ่มนี้ว่า “Sovereign Individual”
ฟังดูเหมือนนิยายวิทยาศาสตร์ในยุคที่อินเตอร์เน็ตยังอยู่ในช่วงเริ่มต้นใช่มั้ย? แต่ในปี 2024 นี้.. โลกที่ เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ เคยจินตนาการเอาไว้ไม่ใช่เรื่องเพ้อฝันอีกต่อไป!
ลองคิดดูสิครับ.. ทุกวันนี้เราใช้ชีวิตอยู่บนโลกออนไลน์กันมากขึ้น ทำงาน ซื้อของ ลงทุน ติดต่อสื่อสารข้ามพรมแดนโดยไม่ต้องผ่านตัวกลาง ไม่ต้องง้อรัฐบาล อินเตอร์เน็ตได้กลายเป็นเหมือน “โลกใบใหม่” ที่ไร้พรมแดน เปิดโอกาสให้เราเข้าถึงข้อมูล เชื่อมต่อกับผู้คนและสร้างรายได้จากทั่วทุกมุมโลกโดยไม่ต้องถูกจำกัดด้วยกฎเกณฑ์หรือข้อบังคับของรัฐบาล
อย่างที่ในหนังสือได้กล่าวไว้ว่า “อินเตอร์เน็ต” จะทำให้เกิดธุรกิจใหม่ๆ รูปแบบการทำงานแบบใหม่ๆ และชุมชนออนไลน์ที่เชื่อมโยงผู้คนทั่วโลก ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับวิสัยทัศน์ของพวกเขาที่มองว่า “ปัจเจกชน” จะมีอำนาจมากขึ้น ในยุคข้อมูลข่าวสาร
ทุกวันนี้เราก็เห็นกันแล้วว่าอินเตอร์เน็ตได้สร้างโอกาสมากมายให้กับคนที่กล้าที่จะแตกต่างและไม่ยอมจำนนต่อระบบ เช่น คนที่ทำงานแบบ Remote Work ที่สามารถทำงานจากที่ไหนก็ได้บนโลก (แบบทีม Right Shift) คนที่เป็น Digital Nomad ที่เดินทางท่องเที่ยวไปทั่วโลกพร้อมกับทำงานไปด้วย หรือธุรกิจ E-commerce ที่สามารถขายสินค้าได้โดยไม่ต้องมีหน้าร้าน
อินเตอร์เน็ตทำให้เราหลุดพ้นจากข้อจำกัดทางภูมิศาสตร์ และเปิดโอกาสให้เราเชื่อมต่อกับโลกในแบบที่ไม่เคยเป็นไปได้มาก่อน นี่ไม่ใช่จุดเริ่มต้นของ “ยุคปัจเจกชนผู้เป็นอิสระ” หรอกเหรอ?
และ Bitcoin คือ “อาวุธ” สำคัญของ Sovereign Individual ในยุคนี้ มันปลดล็อคพันธนาการทางการเงินแบบเดิมๆ ซึ่งคุณสามารถส่งเงินให้ใครก็ได้บนโลกโดยไม่ต้องผ่านธนาคาร ไม่ต้องกังวลเรื่องค่าธรรมเนียมแพงๆ แถมยังปลอดภัยจากการแทรกแซงของรัฐบาล
มันเหมือนกับการที่เรามี “เรือดำน้ำ” ที่พาเราหลุดออกจากเรือใหญ่ที่กำลังจะจม!
แต่เดี๋ยวก่อน! หนังสือที่เขียนขึ้นในยุคที่อินเตอร์เน็ตยังอยู่ในช่วงเริ่มต้นแบบนี้จะสามารถให้คำตอบอะไรกับโลกของ Bitcoin ที่ Decentralized และเต็มไปด้วยเทคโนโลยีล้ำสมัยได้จริงๆ เหรอ?
คำตอบคือ.. ใช่!
หนังสือเล่มนี้ยังคงเปี่ยมไปด้วย Insight ที่เฉียบคม และแนวคิดที่ทรงพลัง ซึ่งสามารถนำมาปรับใช้ได้กับโลกในยุคปัจจุบัน

ก่อนจะไปกันต่อ..
หลายคนอาจจะเริ่มสงสัยแล้วว่า *“Sovereign Individual” มันคืออะไรกันแน่?*
ฟังดูยิ่งใหญ่อลังการแต่มันจะจับต้องได้จริงๆ หรือ?
ถ้าแปลตรงตัว “Sovereign” ก็หมายถึง “ผู้มีอำนาจสูงสุด”
ส่วน “Individual” นั้นหมายถึง “ปัจเจกบุคคล”
พอรวมกันเป็น “Sovereign Individual” ก็เลยแปลตรงตัวได้ว่า “ปัจเจกบุคคลผู้มีอำนาจสูงสุด” ซึ่งผมขอใช้คำว่า “ปัจเจกชนผู้ยิ่งใหญ่” แทนก็แล้วกันนะครับ.. มันฟังดูเหมือนจะเป็นราชาหรือจักรพรรดิใช่มั้ย?
แต่ใจเย็นๆ ก่อน.. ความหมายของ “Sovereign Individual” ตามบริบทของหนังสือเล่มนี้ไม่ได้หมายถึงการมีอำนาจปกครองคนอื่น แต่มันคือการมี “อำนาจ” ในการกำหนดชีวิตของตัวเอง
ลองนึกถึงกษัตริย์ในยุคโบราณ.. พวกเขามีอำนาจสูงสุดในแผ่นดิน สามารถออกกฎหมาย เก็บภาษี และควบคุมทรัพยากรต่างๆ ได้ตามใจชอบ ..แต่ “Sovereign Individual” ในยุคนี้ไม่ได้ต้องการอำนาจแบบนั้น สิ่งที่พวกเขาต้องการคืออิสรภาพ และอำนาจในการควบคุมชีวิตของตัวเองโดยไม่ต้องขึ้นอยู่กับรัฐบาลหรือระบบใดๆ
พวกเขาเป็น “ราชา” ในอาณาจักรของตัวเอง!
เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ มองว่า “เทคโนโลยี” คือกุญแจสำคัญที่จะทำให้ “ปัจเจกบุคคล” มีอำนาจได้มากขึ้น มันจะช่วยให้เราก้าวข้ามข้อจำกัดทางภูมิศาสตร์ เข้าถึงข้อมูลและเชื่อมต่อกับผู้คนทั่วโลกได้โดยตรงโดยไม่ต้องผ่านตัวกลาง
ตัวอย่างเช่น Bitcoin ที่ทำให้เราสามารถทำธุรกรรมทางการเงินได้โดยไม่ต้องผ่านธนาคาร อินเตอร์เน็ตทำให้เราสามารถทำงาน เรียนรู้ และสร้างรายได้จากที่ไหนก็ได้บนโลก ซึ่งพอปัจเจกบุคคลมีอำนาจมากขึ้น อำนาจของรัฐบาลก็จะลดลง นี่คือสิ่งที่ เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ เคยทำนายไว้ในหนังสือและมันกำลังเกิดขึ้นจริงในยุคนี้
“Sovereign Individual” จึงหมายถึงคนที่สามารถควบคุมการเงินของตัวเองได้ ไม่ต้องพึ่งพาระบบธนาคารหรือสกุลเงินของรัฐบาล สามารถสร้างรายได้จากทั่วโลก ไม่ต้องถูกจำกัดด้วยพรมแดนหรือข้อบังคับของรัฐ พวกเขากำหนดวิถีชีวิตของตัวเองได้ เลือกที่จะอยู่ ทำงานและใช้ชีวิตได้ในแบบที่ตัวเองต้องการ
พวกเขาคือ “อิสระชน” ที่ไม่ยอมเป็น “ทาส” ของระบบ!
พอจะเริ่มเข้าใจความหมายของ “Sovereign Individual” กันแล้วใช่ไหมครับ?
ทีนี้คุณเริ่มอยากเป็น “ปัจเจกชนผู้มีอำนาจอธิปไตย” กันบ้างหรือยัง?
27 ปีผ่านไป คำทำนายยังคงแม่นยำ (โดยเฉพาะเรื่องบิตคอยน์!)
เมื่อผมลองย้อนกลับไปอ่านหนังสือเล่มนี้อีกครั้งในปี 2024 มันก็ยังคงทำให้ผมต้องทึ่งกับวิสัยทัศน์ของ เดวิดสันและรีส-ม็อกก์ ที่มองเห็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่ล่วงหน้าได้อย่างแม่นยำ หนังสือที่ตีพิมพ์ครั้งแรกในปี 1997 เล่มนี้ ได้ทำนายการเปลี่ยนผ่านจากยุคอุตสาหกรรมเข้าสู่ยุคข้อมูลข่าวสารที่จะพลิกโฉมโครงสร้างทางสังคมและเศรษฐกิจไปอย่างสิ้นเชิง
ถ้าเปรียบเทียบโลกในปี 1997 ตอนที่อินเตอร์เน็ตยังอยู่แค่ในช่วงเริ่มต้น กับโลกในปี 2024 ที่อินเตอร์เน็ตครอบคลุมไปทั่วทุกมุมโลกแล้ว เราจะเห็นได้ว่าคำทำนายหลายอย่างในหนังสือเล่มนี้กำลังกลายเป็นจริง
ตัวอย่างที่เห็นได้ชัดเจนที่สุดคือการเติบโตอย่างก้าวกระโดดของเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัล สมาร์ทโฟน อินเตอร์เน็ตความเร็วสูง และ AI ได้กลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของชีวิตประจำวัน ที่เข้ามาเปลี่ยนแปลงวิถีชีวิต การทำงาน และการสื่อสารของผู้คนทั่วโลก
สมาร์ทโฟนเครื่องเล็กๆ ในมือคุณ มีพลังในการประมวลผลมากกว่าคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ NASA เคยใช้ส่งมนุษย์ไปเหยียบดวงจันทร์เสียอีก คุณสามารถเข้าถึงข้อมูลข่าวสาร ติดต่อสื่อสารกับผู้คนทั่วโลก ทำงาน เรียนรู้ ซื้อของ และทำธุรกรรมทางการเงินได้ทุกที่ทุกเวลา ซึ่งหลายคนอาจจะนึกไม่ออกว่าช่วงก่อนที่หนังสือเล่มนี้จะถูกตีพิมพ์ พวกเราอยู่กันที่จุดใด..
ในปี 1997 อินเทอร์เน็ตในประเทศไทยยังอยู่ในช่วงเริ่มต้นและไม่ได้แพร่หลายเหมือนอย่างในปัจจุบัน ความเร็วอินเทอร์เน็ตโดยเฉลี่ยในขณะนั้นค่อนข้างต่ำ โดยทั่วไปจะใช้การเชื่อมต่อผ่านสายโทรศัพท์ด้วยโมเด็ม dial-up ซึ่งมีความเร็วสูงสุดประมาณ 56 kbps (kilobits per second) เท่านั้น การดาวน์โหลดไฟล์ขนาดใหญ่หรือการสตรีมวิดีโอเป็นเรื่องที่ทำได้ยากและใช้เวลานาน (สมัยนั้นแค่โหลดไฟล์ภาพ jpeg ได้ก็เปิดเบียร์ฉลองกันแล้ว)
ณ ขณะที่เขียนบทความนี้อยู่.. ผมใช้เน็ตบ้านความเร็ว 1,000 MB (1,000,000 kbps) ความเร็วมันมากกว่าความเร็วเน็ตเฉลี่ยในปี 1997 ประมาณ 17,857 เท่า หรือ 1,785,614% เลยทีเดียว!
ในยุคนั้นการใช้งานอินเทอร์เน็ตที่ได้รับความนิยมในไทยส่วนใหญ่จะเป็นบริการจำพวก BBS (Bulletin Board System) หรือระบบกระดานข่าวออนไลน์ที่ผู้ใช้สามารถแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลข่าวสาร สนทนา และดาวน์โหลดไฟล์ต่างๆ กันได้ และอีเมลซึ่งเป็นบริการส่งข้อความอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ที่ได้รับความนิยมเพิ่มขึ้นเรื่อยๆ ในช่วงเวลานั้น นอกจากนี้ก็จะมีการใช้งานเว็บไซต์ แม้ว่าจะยังมีจำนวนไม่มากนักแต่เว็บไซต์ก็เริ่มเป็นที่รู้จักและเข้าถึงได้มากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะเว็บไซต์ของหน่วยงานราชการ มหาวิทยาลัยและบริษัทขนาดใหญ่
การสื่อสารในยุคนั้นยังคงเป็นแบบดั้งเดิมเป็นส่วนใหญ่ ได้แก่ โทรศัพท์บ้าน จดหมาย โทรสาร (แฟกซ์) และเพจเจอร์ (ใครรู้จักบ้าง? มันเป็นอุปกรณ์รับข้อความสั้นๆ ที่ได้รับความนิยมในหมู่วัยรุ่นและนักธุรกิจยุคนั้น)
ก็นั่นแหละครับ.. เดวิดสันและรีส-ม็อกก์ มองเห็นว่าเทคโนโลยีเหล่านี้จะเป็นเครื่องมือสำคัญในการปลดปล่อย “ปัจเจกชน” ออกจากพันธนาการของรัฐและระบบเศรษฐกิจแบบเดิมๆ พวกเขาจะไม่ต้องพึ่งพาหรือถูกควบคุมโดยรัฐบาลหรือองค์กรขนาดใหญ่อีกต่อไป
หนังสืออธิบายว่าในยุคข้อมูลข่าวสารนั้น อำนาจจะไหลไปสู่มือของผู้ที่สามารถควบคุม และใช้ประโยชน์จากข้อมูลได้อย่างชาญฉลาด ซึ่งก็คือ “ปัจเจกชน” นั่นเอง และ “ปัญญาประดิษฐ์” (AI) ก็คือหนึ่งในเทคโนโลยีที่จะเข้ามามีบทบาทสำคัญช่วยให้ผู้ไม่ยอมจำนนต่อระบบเหล่านี้สามารถควบคุม และใช้ประโยชน์จากข้อมูลมหาศาลได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากยิ่งขึ้น
ในหนังสือนั้น.. เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ มองเห็นศักยภาพของ AI ในการทำงาน การตัดสินใจ และการสร้างสรรค์สิ่งใหม่ๆ พวกเขาเชื่อว่า AI จะกลายเป็นเครื่องมือสำคัญที่ช่วยให้ผู้บุกเบิกเส้นทางใหมสามารถทำงานได้อย่างอัจฉริยะ ตัดสินใจได้อย่างแม่นยำและสร้างสรรค์สิ่งใหม่ๆ ได้อย่างรวดเร็ว
ทุกวันนี้เราก็เริ่มเห็นแล้วว่า AI กำลังเข้ามามีบทบาทในชีวิตประจำวันของเรามากขึ้น เช่น การใช้ ChatGPT, Gemini ในการเขียนแปลภาษาหรือสร้างคอนเท้นท์ต่างๆ การใช้ AI Trading ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลและตัดสินใจซื้อขายหุ้น หรือการใช้ AI-powered tools ในการทำงานต่างๆ เช่น การออกแบบ การตัดต่อวิดีโอ การแต่งเพลง
AI คือ “สมองกล” ที่จะช่วยให้เราก้าวข้ามขีดจำกัดของมนุษย์ และเป็นอีกหนึ่ง “อาวุธ” สำคัญที่ผู้พึ่งพาตนเองในยุคข้อมูลข่าวสารต้องมี
หนึ่งในคำทำนายที่โดดเด่นที่สุดของหนังสือเล่มนี้คือการเกิดขึ้นของ “สกุลเงินดิจิทัล” และในปี 2024 นี้ “Bitcoin” ก็คือสิ่งที่ยืนยันคำทำนายในหนังสือได้อย่างชัดเจน Bitcoin เป็นสกุลเงินที่ Decentralized ปราศจากการควบคุมของรัฐบาลและธนาคารกลาง ทำให้เราสามารถทำธุรกรรมทางการเงินได้โดยไม่ต้องผ่านตัวกลาง ไม่ต้องกังวลเรื่องค่าธรรมเนียมแพงๆ
และที่สำคัญ.. มันปลอดภัยจากการแทรกแซงหรือการยึดทรัพย์โดยรัฐบาล (อย่างน้อยก็ในตอนนี้) เพราะ Bitcoin ใช้เทคโนโลยีการเข้ารหัสข้อมูล (Encryption) ที่ทำให้ธุรกรรมมีความปลอดภัยสูง ยากต่อการถูกแฮ็กหรือติดตามโดยรัฐบาล
เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ มองว่ากลไกปกปิดข้อมูลเป็นเสมือน “เกราะป้องกัน” ที่สำคัญของผู้ที่ต้องการหลุดพ้นจากพันธนาการในยุคข้อมูลข่าวสาร ที่รัฐบาลและองค์กรต่างๆ พยายามจะสอดแนมและควบคุมข้อมูลของเรา
พวกเขายกตัวอย่างว่าการแปลงข้อมูลเป็นรหัสลับจะช่วยปกป้องข้อมูลส่วนตัวและธุรกรรมทางการเงิน จากการสอดแนมของรัฐบาล ทำให้เรามี “พื้นที่ส่วนตัว” บนโลกดิจิทัล และในโลกปัจจุบันการป้องกันข้อมูลยิ่งมีความสำคัญมากขึ้น เพราะข้อมูลของเรากระจัดกระจายอยู่บนโลกออนไลน์ และเสี่ยงต่อการถูกโจรกรรมหรือละเมิด
เราจึงเห็นการใช้โล่ป้องกันข้อมูลในรูปแบบต่างๆ เช่น การใช้ VPN เพื่อเข้ารหัสข้อมูลขณะท่องอินเตอร์เน็ต การใช้ Privacy Coin เช่น Monero, Zcash ที่เน้นความเป็นส่วนตัวในการทำธุรกรรม หรือ End-to-end Encryption ในการสื่อสารผ่านแอปพลิเคชั่น เช่น WhatsApp, Signal
การเข้ารหัส คือ “อาวุธลับ” ที่จะช่วยให้เรารักษาความเป็นส่วนตัวและความปลอดภัยในโลกดิจิทัล และเป็นอีกหนึ่งเครื่องมือสำคัญที่ผู้ไม่ยอมจำนนต่อระบบจำเป็นต้องมี
ลองนึกภาพตามนะครับ.. ถ้าคุณอาศัยอยู่ในประเทศที่รัฐบาลมีอำนาจควบคุมสูง จำกัดสิทธิเสรีภาพและยึดทรัพย์สินของประชาชน คุณจะรู้สึกปลอดภัยแค่ไหนกับการเก็บเงินไว้ในธนาคาร? การเกิดขึ้นของ Bitcoin ได้เข้ามาทำให้เรามีทางเลือก มันทำให้ใครๆ ก็สามารถเป็นเจ้าของและควบคุม “เงิน” ของตัวเองได้อย่างแท้จริง เดวิดสันและรีส-ม็อกก์ เรียกสิ่งนี้ว่าเป็น “การแยกตัวทางการเงิน” (Financial Secession) ซึ่งเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการเป็นผู้กำหนดอนาคตตนเอง
ไม่ใช่แค่ Bitcoin แต่ความพยายามในส่วนของการพัฒนาและหาทางใช้ประโยชน์จากแพล็ตฟอร์มอย่าง DeFi (Decentralized Finance) ก็เป็นอีกหนึ่งตัวอย่างที่ชัดเจนที่สะท้อนถึงวิสัยทัศน์ของ เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ ไอ้ DeFi นี่เองที่กำลังจะเข้ามา Disrupt ระบบการเงินแบบเดิมๆ ด้วยแพลตฟอร์มการเงินที่ไร้ตัวกลาง ทุกวันนี้ DeFi เปิดโอกาสให้เราสามารถกู้ยืมเงิน แลกเปลี่ยนสกุลเงินและลงทุนในสินทรัพย์ดิจิทัลได้อย่างสะดวก รวดเร็ว และปลอดภัย โดยไม่ต้องผ่านขั้นตอนที่ยุ่งยากและค่าธรรมเนียมที่แพงของธนาคารหรือสถาบันการเงินแบบดั้งเดิม (DeFi นั้น แม้จะเป็นเทคโนโลยีที่น่าสนใจ แต่ก็ยังต้องพิสูจน์ตัวเองอีกมากในสายตาของชาวบิตคอยน์)
เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ ไม่ได้มองแค่เรื่องของเทคโนโลยี แต่พวกเขามองเห็นถึงผลกระทบต่อ “คน” และวิถีชีวิตที่จะเปลี่ยนไปในยุคข้อมูลข่าวสาร ความรู้ ทักษะ และความสามารถในการปรับตัว จะเป็นสินทรัพย์ที่มีค่ามากกว่าทรัพย์สินทางกายภาพ
ทุกวันนี้เราเห็นคนรุ่นใหม่จำนวนมากเลือกที่จะทำงานอิสระ (Freelancer) พวกเขาทำงานผ่านอินเตอร์เน็ต สร้างรายได้จากทั่วโลกและไม่ต้องการถูกผูกมัดกับบริษัทหรือสถานที่ใดสถานที่หนึ่ง พวกเขามีอิสระในการเลือกงาน เลือกเวลาทำงานและเลือกสถานที่ทำงาน หนังสือเรียกคนกลุ่มนี้ว่า “ชนชั้นอิสระชนไร้พรมแดน” (Nomad Class) ซึ่งเป็นกลุ่มคนที่สามารถใช้ชีวิตและทำงานได้จากที่ไหนก็ได้บนโลก
นอกจากนี้ เรายังเห็นการเคลื่อนย้ายถิ่นฐานของเหล่าเศรษฐีและนักลงทุนที่ย้ายไปอยู่ในประเทศที่มีกฎหมายเอื้ออำนวย และมีภาระภาษีที่ต่ำกว่า พวกเขาไม่ต้องการเป็น “วัวนม” ให้รัฐบาลรีดนมอีกต่อไป พวกเขาต้องการเป็น “อิสระชน” ที่สามารถควบคุมทรัพย์สินและกำหนดชะตาชีวิตของตัวเองได้ ตัวอย่างเช่น การที่เศรษฐีและผู้ประกอบการจำนวนมากย้ายถิ่นฐานไปยังสิงคโปร์ ฮ่องกง หรือดูไบ ซึ่งมีระบบภาษีที่เอื้อต่อธุรกิจและมีเสรีภาพทางเศรษฐกิจสูง
ทั้งหมดนี้คือภาพสะท้อนของโลกที่ เดวิดสันและรีส-ม็อกก์ เคยจินตนาการไว้ โลกที่อำนาจของรัฐชาติกำลังถูกท้าทายและ “ปัจเจกชนผู้ยิ่งใหญ่” กำลังก้าวขึ้นมามีบทบาทสำคัญ โลกในปี 2024 พิสูจน์ให้เห็นแล้วว่า “The Sovereign Individual” ไม่ใช่แค่หนังนิยายวิทยาศาสตร์ แต่มันคือ “พิมพ์เขียว” ของอนาคตที่พวกเราต่างก็ต้องเตรียมพร้อมเพื่อรับมือ
ทำไม Bitcoin ถึงเป็น “อาวุธ” ของผู้ที่ต้องการกำหนดอนาคตของตน?
ในโลกที่เทคโนโลยีกำลังรื้อสร้างทุกกฎเกณฑ์ และพรมแดนเริ่มค่อยๆ เลือนหายไปบนโลกดิจิทัล คำถามที่น่าสนใจคืออำนาจของรัฐชาติยังคงแข็งแกร่งเหมือนเดิมหรือไม่?
หนังสือชี้ให้เห็นว่าในยุคข้อมูลข่าวสาร อำนาจจะกระจายออกจากศูนย์กลาง รัฐบาลจะอ่อนแอลงและ “ปัจเจกชน” จะมีบทบาทมากขึ้น พวกเขาจะควบคุมชีวิตและทรัพย์สินของตนเองได้อิสระมากขึ้น ซึ่ง Bitcoin คือตัวอย่างที่ชัดเจนที่สะท้อนถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงนี้ มันคือ “อาวุธ” ของผู้ต้องการปลดแอกที่ช่วยปลดล็อคพันธนาการจากระบบการเงินแบบเดิม และก้าวสู่โลกแห่งอิสรภาพทางการเงินอย่างแท้จริง
แม้หนังสือจะถูกเขียนขึ้นในปี 1997 ก่อนที่ Bitcoin จะถือกำเนิด แต่แนวคิดของหนังสือเล่มนี้กลับสอดคล้องกับปรัชญาของ Bitcoin อย่างน่าทึ่ง ทั้งสองสิ่งต่างก็เน้นย้ำถึง “การหลุดพ้นจากการควบคุมของรัฐ” และ “การเป็นอิสระทางการเงิน” เดวิดสันและรีส-ม็อกก์ มองเห็นว่าในอนาคตเทคโนโลยีจะทำให้เกิด “การกระจายอำนาจ” (Decentralization) และ “ปัจเจกชน” จะมีอำนาจในการควบคุมชีวิตของตนเองมากขึ้น
หนังสือได้อธิบายว่าในอดีต รัฐบาลและสถาบันการเงินมีอำนาจควบคุมระบบเศรษฐกิจและการเงินของโลก ประชาชนต้องพึ่งพาและยอมรับกฎเกณฑ์ที่พวกเขากำหนด แต่ในยุคดิจิทัล.. เทคโนโลยีอย่าง Bitcoin ทำให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงครั้งใหญ่ มันทำให้ใครๆ ก็สามารถเป็นเจ้าของและควบคุม “เงิน” ของตัวเองได้โดยไม่ต้องผ่านตัวกลาง ลองจินตนาการถึงโลกที่คุณไม่ต้องพึ่งพาธนาคาร ไม่ต้องกังวลว่ารัฐบาลจะยึดทรัพย์หรือควบคุมการเงินของคุณดูสิ.. นั่นคือโลกที่ Bitcoin กำลังค่อยๆ สร้างขึ้นอย่างช้าๆ
Bitcoin ทำงานบนเทคโนโลยี Blockchain ซึ่งเป็น Public Ledger ที่บันทึกธุรกรรมทั้งหมดไว้ โดย Blockchain นี้กระจายอยู่บนเครือข่ายคอมพิวเตอร์ทั่วโลก ทำให้ไม่มีใครสามารถควบคุมหรือแก้ไขข้อมูลได้
คุณสมบัติเด่นของ Bitcoin ที่สอดคล้องกับแนวคิดในหนังสือนั้นมีอยู่ 3 ประการด้วยกัน
ประการแรก คือ Bitcoin เป็นระบบ Decentralized ที่ไม่มีศูนย์กลาง ไม่มีใครสามารถควบคุม สั่งการ หรือยึด Bitcoin ของคุณได้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นรัฐบาล ธนาคาร หรือแม้แต่ Satoshi Nakamoto ผู้สร้าง Bitcoin เอง เครือข่าย Bitcoin กระจายอยู่ทั่วโลกทำให้ยากต่อการปิดกั้นหรือควบคุม ซึ่งตรงกับสิ่งที่หนังสือกล่าวถึงการล่มสลายของรัฐชาติและการเกิดขึ้นของ “ไมโครสเตท” (Microstates) โดย Bitcoin อาจเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการเปลี่ยนแปลงนี้ โดยการเป็น “สกุลเงิน” ของไมโครสเตทหรือชุมชนอิสระ
ประการที่สอง คือ Bitcoin ให้ความเป็นส่วนตัว เนื่องจากธุรกรรม Bitcoin ถูกบันทึกไว้บน Blockchain ซึ่งเป็น Public Ledger ที่ทุกคนสามารถเข้าถึงได้ แต่ข้อมูลส่วนตัวของคุณจะไม่ถูกเปิดเผย คุณสามารถทำธุรกรรมโดยไม่ต้องเปิดเผยตัวตน เช่นเดียวกับที่ในหนังสือพูดถึงการปกป้องความเป็นส่วนตัว (Privacy) ในยุคข้อมูลข่าวสาร Bitcoin ช่วยให้คุณสามารถควบคุมข้อมูลส่วนตัวและทำธุรกรรมทางการเงินได้โดยไม่ต้องเปิดเผยตัวตน
และประการสุดท้าย คือ Bitcoin มีความปลอดภัย Bitcoin ใช้เทคโนโลยี Cryptography ในการรักษาความปลอดภัย ทำให้ยากต่อการปลอมแปลงหรือแฮ็กข้อมูล เช่นเดียวกับที่หนังสือเน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของ “การปกป้องทรัพย์สิน” (Asset Protection) Bitcoin ที่ปลอดภัยและยากต่อการแฮ็กจึงเป็น “สินทรัพย์” ที่ผู้แสวงหาอิสรภาพสามารถไว้วางใจได้
ด้วยคุณสมบัติทั้งสามประการนี้เอง ทำให้ Bitcoin เป็นมากกว่า “เงิน” มันคือเครื่องมือที่ช่วยให้คุณเป็นมนุษย์ผู้มีอำนาจอธิปไตยในโลกดิจิทัล ลองดูตัวอย่างการใช้ Bitcoin ในโลกจริงที่สะท้อนแนวคิดของ “Sovereign Individual”
เช่น ในประเทศเวเนซุเอลาที่ประสบปัญหาเงินเฟ้อรุนแรง ประชาชนหันมาใช้ Bitcoin เป็น Store of Value เพื่อปกป้องทรัพย์สินของพวกเขา เช่นเดียวกับที่ในหนังสือได้เตือนถึงภัยของเงินเฟ้อและการควบคุมเงินตราโดยรัฐบาล หรือแรงงานต่างชาติที่ใช้ Bitcoin ในการส่งเงินกลับบ้านโดยไม่ต้องเสียค่าธรรมเนียมแพงๆ ให้กับ Western Union ซึ่งเป็นการตัดตัวกลางและลดค่าใช้จ่าย สอดคล้องกับแนวคิด “การลดต้นทุน” (Cost Reduction) ในหนังสือ

นอกจากนี้ NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations - องค์กรพัฒนาเอกชนหรือองค์กรนอกภาครัฐ) และกลุ่มนักเคลื่อนไหวยังใช้ Bitcoin ในการระดมทุนจากทั่วโลกโดยไม่ถูกปิดกั้นหรือโดนเซ็นเซอร์โดยรัฐบาล ดังนั้น Bitcoin จึงไม่ใช่แค่ “สกุลเงิน” แต่มันคือสัญลักษณ์ของ “อิสรภาพ” มันคือเครื่องมือที่ช่วยให้คุณกำหนดชะตาชีวิตทางการเงินและเป็นนายตัวเองได้อย่างแท้จริง
ตัวอย่างก็เช่น.. WikiLeaks องค์กรสื่อของ จูเลียน อัสซานจ์ ที่เผยแพร่เอกสารลับของรัฐบาล ถูกธนาคารและสถาบันการเงินแบบดั้งเดิมปิดกั้นการรับเงินบริจาค WikiLeaks จึงหันมาใช้ Bitcoin เป็นช่องทางรับเงินบริจาค ช่วยให้องค์กรสามารถอยู่รอดและทำงานต่อไปได้แม้จะถูกกดดันจากรัฐบาล
หรือ #EndSARS การประท้วงในประเทศไนจีเรียเพื่อต่อต้านหน่วยตำรวจ SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) ที่ใช้อำนาจในทางมิชอบ รัฐบาลไนจีเรียสั่งปิดกั้นบัญชีธนาคารของผู้ประท้วงทำให้กลุ่มผู้ประท้วงหันมาใช้ Bitcoin เป็นช่องทางรับเงินบริจาคเพื่อสนับสนุนการเคลื่อนไหว และช่วยเหลือผู้ประท้วงที่ได้รับผลกระทบ
กลุ่มรณรงค์ด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน เช่น Human Rights Foundation ใช้ Bitcoin เป็นช่องทางรับเงินบริจาคจากผู้สนับสนุนทั่วโลกเพื่อทำงานด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนในประเทศที่ถูกจำกัดเสรีภาพ
องค์กรช่วยเหลือด้านมนุษยธรรมในพื้นที่ขัดแย้งหรือประเทศที่ระบบการเงินไม่มั่นคง Bitcoin ก็เป็นช่องทางที่สะดวก รวดเร็ว และปลอดภัย ในการส่งเงินช่วยเหลือ เช่น ในประเทศซีเรีย Bitcoin ถูกใช้ในการส่งเงินช่วยเหลือแก่ผู้ประสบภัยสงคราม ไปจนถึงกรณีฮ่องกงในช่วงการประท้วงเรียกร้องประชาธิปไตยในฮ่องกงปี 2019-2020 กลุ่มผู้ประท้วงและนักเคลื่อนไหวหลายคนหันมาใช้ Bitcoin เพื่อระดมทุนและหลีกเลี่ยงการติดตามจากรัฐบาลจีน
ในยุคที่ Bitcoin กำลังเติบโตและเทคโนโลยี Blockchain กำลังพลิกโฉมโลก แนวคิดของ เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ ยิ่งมีความสำคัญมากขึ้น มันเป็นเครื่องเตือนใจว่าอำนาจที่แท้จริงกำลังกลับคืนสู่มือของ “ปัจเจกชน”
อิสรภาพ.. ไม่ได้มาพร้อมกับโบนัส
แน่นอนว่าเส้นทางสู่การเป็น “Sovereign Individual” หรือ “ปัจเจกชนผู้ยิ่งใหญ่” ไม่ได้ถูกโรยไว้ด้วยกลีบกุหลาบ
เดวิดสัน และ รีส-ม็อกก์ ไม่ได้บอกแค่เรื่องสวยหรู แต่พวกเขายังชี้ให้เห็นถึงอุปสรรคและความท้าทายต่างๆ ที่รออยู่ เหมือนกับการผจญภัยในดินแดนใหม่ที่เต็มไปด้วยขุมทรัพย์ แต่ก็แฝงไปด้วยอันตรายรอบด้าน คุณต้องเตรียมพร้อมรับมือ ทั้งกับความไม่แน่นอนและศัตรูที่มองไม่เห็น หนึ่งในความท้าทายที่สำคัญที่สุด คือ “ความรับผิดชอบ” ที่มากขึ้น เมื่อเราก้าวออกจากระบบเดิมๆ ที่คุ้นเคยและแสนอึดอัดเราต้องพร้อมที่จะเป็น “นายตัวเอง” อย่างแท้จริง
ลองจินตนาการดูว่า.. ตอนนี้คุณอาจจะเป็นพนักงานบริษัทที่ถึงแม้จะมีเจ้านายคอยจู้จี้ มีกฎระเบียบมากมายแต่ก็ยังมีระบบ มีสวัสดิการต่างๆ คอยรองรับ มีเงินเดือนเข้าทุกสิ้นเดือน แต่ถ้าคุณเลือกที่จะเป็น “มนุษย์อิสระ” คุณต้องโยน “ไม้ค้ำ” พวกนั้นทิ้งไป!
ไม่มีเจ้านาย ไม่มีสวัสดิการ ไม่มีเงินเดือนประจำ ทุกอย่างขึ้นอยู่กับ “ตัวคุณ” เพียงคนเดียว
คุณต้องตัดสินใจ วางแผนและรับผิดชอบต่อทุกการกระทำด้วยตัวเอง ตั้งแต่เรื่องเล็กๆ น้อยๆ อย่างการจัดการเวลาไปจนถึงเรื่องใหญ่ๆ อย่างการลงทุน การวางแผนภาษีและการป้องกันตัวเองจากภัยอันตรายต่างๆ ซึ่งในยุคที่โลกหมุนเร็วแบบนี้ การเรียนรู้และพัฒนาตัวเองอย่างต่อเนื่องจึงเป็นสิ่งที่ขาดไม่ได้ ผู้บุกเบิกเส้นทางใหม่ต้องเป็นเหมือน “นักสำรวจ” ที่ไม่หยุดค้นคว้าและพร้อมปรับตัวให้ทันกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงอยู่เสมอ
เพราะ “ความรู้” คืออาวุธที่ทรงพลังที่สุดในโลกยุคใหม่
นอกจากความรับผิดชอบที่มากขึ้น โลกดิจิทัลที่เต็มไปด้วยโอกาสก็ยังเต็มไปด้วย “ความเสี่ยง” เช่นเดียวกัน แม้เทคโนโลยี Blockchain และ Bitcoin จะขึ้นชื่อเรื่องความปลอดภัย ยากต่อการถูกแฮ็ก แต่ถ้าคุณทำ Private Key หาย หรือเผลอไปคลิกลิงก์ปลอมคุณก็อาจจะต้องโบกมือลา Bitcoin ของคุณไปตลอดกาล ซึ่งมันต่างจากการโดนธนาคารโกงที่คุณยังพอมีโอกาสได้เงินคืนหรือร้องเรียนหน่วยงานรัฐ แต่ในโลก Decentralized นั้น.. ไม่มีใคร แม้แต่รัฐบาลที่จะสามารถช่วยคุณได้!
คุณต้องรับผิดชอบต่อความสูญเสียเองทั้งหมด..
ดังนั้นการเป็น “ผู้กำหนดอนาคตของตน” จึงไม่ใช่แค่การประกาศอิสรภาพแล้วจะสบาย แต่มันต้องมาพร้อมกับ “วินัย” ในการจัดการชีวิต “ความรู้” ในการตัดสินใจและ “ความรอบคอบ” ในการป้องกันตัวเอง เหมือนนักปีนเขาที่ต้องฝึกฝนตัวเอง เตรียมอุปกรณ์และวางแผนอย่างรัดกุมก่อนจะปีนขึ้นสู่ยอดเขา
เพราะการพลาดเพียงก้าวเดียวอาจหมายถึงชีวิต!
แต่ข่าวดีก็คือ.. เมื่อคุณสามารถพิชิตความท้าทายเหล่านี้ได้ โอกาสที่รออยู่ก็ยิ่งใหญ่ไม่แพ้กัน อิสรภาพทางการเงิน การควบคุมชีวิตตัวเองและการเป็น “ราชา” ในอาณาจักรของตัวเอง คือสิ่งที่หนังสือได้วาดฝันเอาไว้
และโลกในปี 2024 ก็ได้พิสูจน์ให้เราเห็นแล้วว่า สิ่งเหล่านี้ ไม่ใช่เพียงแค่ความฝัน!
ลองดูตัวอย่าง แจ๊ค ดอว์ซีย์ (Jack Dorsey) อดีต CEO ของ Twitter ที่กล้าลาออกจากบริษัทเพื่อไปทำธุรกิจ Bitcoin เต็มตัวดูสิ.. เขาเลือกที่จะทิ้ง “กรงทอง” ที่แสนสบายพร้อมเงินเดือนมหาศาลเพื่อไปไล่ตามความฝันและสร้างโลกในแบบที่เขาเชื่อ นี่คือจิตวิญญาณของ “ผู้กำหนดชะตาตนเอง” อย่างแท้จริง
ตัวอย่างนี้แสดงให้เห็นว่า..
อธิปไตยในปัจเจกบุคคลไม่ได้เป็นแค่เรื่องของ “เงิน” หรือ “อำนาจ” แต่มันคือเรื่องของ “ความเชื่อ” “วิสัยทัศน์” และ “การลงมือทำ”
และในปี 2024 นี้.. หนังสือเล่มนี้ก็ยังคงมอบบทเรียนอันทรงคุณค่าที่เราสามารถนำไปปรับใช้ได้
อย่างแรกเลยคือเราต้อง “มองการณ์ไกล” เพราะโลกกำลังเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็ว อิสรชนจึงต้องไม่ติดอยู่กับกรอบเดิมๆ แต่ต้องกล้าที่จะเรียนรู้และปรับตัวให้ทันกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงอยู่เสมอ ยิ่งไปกว่านั้น.. การควบคุมการเงินของตัวเองก็สำคัญมาก อย่าปล่อยให้รัฐบาลหรือสถาบันการเงินควบคุมชีวิตคุณ แต่จงเรียนรู้การบริหารเงินและลงทุนอย่างชาญฉลาด อย่าลืมว่าการพึ่งพารายได้ทางเดียวนั้นเสี่ยง
ดังนั้น.. จึงควรต้องมองหาโอกาสใหม่ๆ และสร้างแหล่งรายได้จากทั่วทุกมุมโลก แน่นอนว่าเทคโนโลยีคือเครื่องมือที่ช่วยให้คุณเป็นอิสระ ดังนั้นจงเรียนรู้และใช้มันให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด และสุดท้ายจงกล้าที่จะแตกต่าง กล้าที่จะท้าทายตัวเอง กล้าที่จะก้าวออกจาก Comfort Zone และสร้างเส้นทางของตัวเอง
มันไม่ได้เป็นแค่เพียงหนังสือ มันเป็นแนวคิดที่จุดประกายความหวังและแรงบันดาลใจ ให้กับ “อิสระชน” ทั่วโลก มันคือ “พิมพ์เขียว” ของอนาคตที่คุณสามารถเลือกที่จะเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของมันได้
คุณพร้อมที่จะก้าวสู่โลกของ “ปัจเจกชนผู้มีอำนาจอธิปไตย” แล้วหรือยัง?

พวกเขาไม่ได้แค่ชี้ให้เห็นถึง “ปัญหา” แต่ยังมอบ “ทางออก” ด้วยการนำเสนอ “แนวคิด” และ “กลยุทธ์” ในการเป็น “ผู้หลุดพ้นจากพันธนาการ” ภาษาที่พวกเขาใช้ไม่ได้เป็นวิชาการจ๋าหรือหนักหัว แต่เป็นการเล่าเรื่อง วิเคราะห์สถานการณ์และคาดการณ์อนาคตด้วยลีลาที่สนุกสนาน ชวนติดตาม และเต็มไปด้วยรายละเอียดเชิงลึก
พวกเขาเปรียบเทียบรัฐบาลกับ “แก๊งมาเฟีย” ที่รีดไถภาษีจากประชาชน เปรียบเทียบระบบการศึกษากับ “โรงงานผลิตมนุษย์” ที่ล้างสมองให้เชื่อฟังและเปรียบเทียบเทคโนโลยีกับ “อาวุธ” ที่ทรงพลังที่จะปลดปล่อยปัจเจกชนจากพันธนาการของรัฐ
พวกเขาไม่ได้พูดถึงเรื่องพวกนี้อย่างเลื่อนลอย แต่หยิบยกเหตุการณ์ในอดีต ตั้งแต่ยุคโรมัน ยุคกลาง มาจนถึงยุคปัจจุบัน มาวิเคราะห์อย่างแหลมคมและเชื่อมโยงกับแนวโน้มในอนาคต
ประโยคเด็ด ๆ ในหนังสือก็ได้สะท้อนถึงวิสัยทัศน์ของพวกเขา ที่มองว่าอำนาจรัฐกำลังถูกท้าทายโดยเทคโนโลยี รัฐบาลจะไม่สามารถควบคุม ครอบงำ หรือแม้แต่จะแตะต้องเศรษฐกิจในโลกดิจิทัลได้อย่างที่เคยทำมา เช่น..
“The good news is that politicians will no more be able to dominate, suppress, and regulate the greater part of commerce in this new realm than the legislators of the ancient Greek city-states could have trimmed the beard of Zeus”

พวกเขามองอำนาจรัฐที่กำลังถูกท้าทายโดยเทคโนโลยี รัฐบาลจะไม่สามารถควบคุม ครอบงำ หรือแม้แต่จะแตะต้องเศรษฐกิจในโลกดิจิทัลได้อย่างที่เคยทำมา
หรือประโยคที่ว่า..

When I revisited this book in 2024, I was once again amazed by the foresight of Davidson and Rees-Mogg, who accurately predicted major changes far in advance. Comparing the world in 1997, when the internet was just emerging, to the world in 2024, where the internet has permeated every corner of the globe, we can see that many predictions in this book are coming true.
The most striking example is the exponential growth of digital technologies. Smartphones, high-speed internet, and AI have become part of our daily lives, transforming the way we live, work, and communicate worldwide.
The small smartphone in your hand has more processing power than the computer NASA used to send humans to the moon! You can access information, connect with people worldwide, work, learn, shop, and conduct financial transactions anytime, anywhere. Many people may not recall where we were before this book was published…
In 1997, the internet in Thailand was in its infancy and not as widespread as it is today. Average internet speeds were quite slow, typically using dial-up modem connections over telephone lines, with a maximum speed of around 56 kbps (kilobits per second). Downloading large files or streaming videos was difficult and time-consuming (back then, just downloading a jpeg image was cause for celebration).
As I write this article… I’m using a 1,000 MB (1,000,000 kbps) internet connection. That’s about 17,857 times faster than the average internet speed in 1997, or a whopping 1,785,614%!
Back then, popular internet usage in Thailand revolved around BBS (Bulletin Board System), online forums where users could exchange information, chat, and download files. Email was also gaining popularity as a means of electronic communication. Websites were starting to emerge, though their numbers were limited, mainly belonging to government agencies, universities, and large companies.
Communication in those days was still predominantly traditional, relying on landline phones, letters, fax machines, and pagers (anyone remember those? They were small devices for receiving short messages, popular among teenagers and businesspeople at the time).
