So the deck itself I anchored with 4 heavy duty concrete piers. Probably 100 lbs of concrete per pier in sono tubes. It was a bitch getting the concrete down there.
The corner of the deck touching the cedar tree I notched to the contour of the tree and fastened with two 12” heavy duty anchors. Guys who build professional tree houses use them to anchor their structures. The deck is built on a frame made of pressure treated 4x4’s then 2x8 stringers on top of the frame. It’s incredibly stout and heavy duty.
The stair stringers I anchored to two big piers I poured where the strains begin at elevation. The ground is exceptionally hard on this land so I don’t even need sono tubes up there.
I wet set 4x4 brackets into the piers and ran a 4x4 perpendicular to the stringers. I notched the stringers so they sit on the 4x4. I used four more of those 8” heavy duty anchors to attach the stringers to the 4x4. I also used heavy duty L brackets.
Where the stringers meet the deck they are held with L brackets and toe fasteners for a total 6 fasteners on each stringer. It’s solid. But otherwise the stringers don’t touch the ground. It looks great.
