This is great, a good first troubleshooting step. However, heatsetting fixes the issue of a gap between nib and feed, this is a common source of ink flow problems—perhaps the most common. And sometimes mis-set feed is the *cause* of slit/tine separation problems.
And as far as Noodler’s pens, plenty of people still use Noodler’s or other similar Indian pens like FPR, Click, Kanwrite etc., this advice applies equally to all of those, so there’s definitely still an audience for fixes (:
