Private housebuilders are forecasting (even) less houses to be constructed in 2025; they cite planning restraints, labour shortages & mortgage rates as constraining construction.
So, the impact of Brexit (on migrant workers), restrictive planning (now the focus of Angela Rayner's reforms) & high mortgage rates depressing demand from first time buyers (engineered but the BoE) are making the housing crisis worse.
But, the real solution remains:
MORE PUBLIC/SOCIAL HOUSING!
