I think the only way to get in that state is to attempt to make the art.
Focussing on the state of being wont get you the art. The state of being is the result of action. Not the cause.
It takes far too long to get good at any art to have yourself be led by it. And when you obtained mastery over your artistic medium, you still have to put action before state.
