i'm not sure, i think the private messenger space is even more saturated than the social media one, and if you have signal, matrix, or simplex for that matter, i'm not sure "doing it over nostr" is much of a win

DMs do depend on a network effect to some level; my own experience is that it was difficult enough to get some people to use signal, i don't think i'll try to get them to use yet another secure messenger

but onboarding them to DMs is easy if people are already using nostr for other reasons
another bootstrapping problem i suppose 🙂
