The Astronomical Observatory at Al Khutm, Abu Dhabi, discovered a small asteroid on Sunday evening as part of its participation with international organizations to monitor and track asteroids that may pose a threat to Earth. Upon its discovery, the asteroid was given the designation "CCVZ8G2". After a series of observations and official announcement by the International Astronomical Union, the asteroid was given the designation "2025 CF". The asteroid was discovered by one of the telescopes of the "Kitt Peak National Observatory" network, which is funded by NASA and operated by the University of Arizona. The asteroid was discovered on Sunday at 11:00 am UAE time, and the global telescopes participating in the observation were alerted immediately to track and determine its position in the sky, which contributes to determining its potential threat to Earth. The list of observatories that participated in the observation includes 18 international observatories, including the Al Khutm Astronomical Observatory in Abu Dhabi. Through these observations, it was found that the asteroid's diameter ranges from 2 to 15 meters and passed close to Earth on Monday at 6:00 am UAE time, just 130,000 kilometers away, which is extremely close. Therefore, astronomical observatories pay special attention to such celestial bodies. While this asteroid does not pose a threat to Earth, it emphasizes the importance of monitoring asteroids that pass near Earth, as one of them may pose a threat to our planet. During the observation of the asteroid by the Al Khutm Astronomical Observatory, it was faintly visible with a magnitude of 17, making it visible only through large telescopes, and it was moving at a high speed of 3 degrees per hour, which is six times the apparent motion of the moon around the Earth.
