Energy prices are not deflationary. Food prices are very much related to the price of oil/diesel/fertilizers. We keep scaling up food production but our energy isn't getting cheaper year over year.
It should be even higher than it is right now, but in the USA we subsidize farmers (and not even wisely) which lets those in power nod their heads about how they've done such a good job keeping the American public sated while simultaneously wrecking the entire economy behind this façade
