It's an interesting confluence of events we're seeing.
American and Chinese folks circumventing state mediation and talking straight to eachother. Drone warfare in Syria and Ukraine has changed the dynamics of combat in a similar way to how the machine gun eliminated the effectiveness of the most powerful horse cavalry in the world and redefined the way wars were fought. American anarchist volunteers cycling out of Syria and Ukraine and coming home with combat experience, specifically with drone combat. A guy shooting a CEO and the accused shooter being turned in to a folk hero, while media and talking heads burn all the trust they had left trying to portray him as a villan.
All while the most hated and incompetent president in history tries to take power, promising to carry out genocide specifically targeting, among others, people who feed the country and also promising to implement tariffs that will absolutely obliterate the economy.
Remember that authoritarianism takes more energy to maintain than egalitarianism. As the climate crisis continues to accelerate, the energy needs of hierarchy will continue to grow. Meanwhile, we are far past the peak oil.
The fact that the US military is the number one global consumer of fossil fuels is no coincidence. Oil is the fuel of oppression, and it's time is limited. Putin more than anyone else, is the oil dictator. Trump is modeling himself off of Putin, and will need an infinite supply of petroleum and to avoid natural disasters in order to maintain power... He is guaranteed to get the opposite.
