Are you happy with the quality of services your government provides in exchange for your “subscription”?
You can’t compare taxes to voluntary subscriptions cause you can’t opt-out of paying taxes. You have to abandon the country for that or go to jail, whilst if you are not happy with Netflix you can switch to HBO and no one will harass you over that.
E.g. level of medical services I “subscribed” to is so low that I use private clinics, but I still can’t “unsubscribe”.
